WEEKEND SWEEP!!
The Country Charm Bantam B girls sweep the Ayr Rockets in round 1 of the LLFHL

The Rebels headed to Ayr on Saturday to play game one and be a part of the Rockets hockey day in Ayr.  We entered the arena to find a bake table loaded with goodies that the girls avoided knowing that they were there to play hockey (some of the coaches couldn’t avoid the temptation).  The girls hit the ice for warm up and quickly felt like they made the big leagues as they rolled out the red carpet for the ceremonial puck drop.  They then got down to business with the official puck drop.  It was a back and forth game with both goalies standing tall until mid-way through the 3rd when Summer Roney passed to Tara Meikle who found the mesh behind the Ayr tender.   Late in the game the Ayr goalie headed to the bench for the extra attacker, the rebels stood their ground and walked away with a 1-0 win for game 1.  Shut out went to Laura Naves.

Game 2 was on Sunday at the TCC.  We hit the ice skating with great confidence on their home ice.  They skated hard and fast putting the puck in the net half way through the 1st, Tara Meikle gets credit for the goal with the assist going to Aubrey Urbshott.  It remained a one goal lead until Aubrey Urbshott got the insurance goal off of a pass from Tara Meikle at 1:32 in the 3rd.  Ayr once again pulled their goalie to put the pressure on with the net empty Kaitlyn Nickason found the net from center ice to put goal #3 on the board with 39 seconds on the clock.  Alyssa Turnbull was kept busy all game and managed to keep the net clear for a 3-0 win to sweep Ayr in 2 games.

We now wait to play the winner between Mount Forest Rams and the Woolwich Wild for the next round of Lower Lakes Playoffs.
