Success with Silver!!
With 22 regular season games and a record of 16-3-3 this would make the Bantam B girls first place in the LLFHL Central West Division and set them up for playoffs.

The first round was against Ayr and the team was able to win in 2 games this moved them to the next round and the were facing Woolwich.  The girls were successful again and in 2 games they moved into the final round.  This was a true test for these girls as we had 2 weeks to complete this round as well as the playdown for Provincials.  These girls pushed and played 7 games in 9 days, true athletes! The girls were successful in winning round 3 of the LLFHL playoffs against Twin Center to qualify the girls for the LLFHL Best of the Best Championship Weekend.  This league alone consists off 53 teams split into 5 divisions and only 1 team from each division qualifies to go.  This alone is a huge success to even qualify for this weekend but then to come home with Silver is an amazing accomplishment

Game 1 was against Orillia and after the drive and a very intense game with a team that had size over our girls it would end in a Tie of 0-0 and the shut our would be earned by Alyssa Turnbull.  Game 2 was later on Friday and was against the Sarnia Sting and once again the Rebels didn’t have size on their side but they never backed down.  The game did result in a 3-1 loss for the Rebels with the Sting netting an empty netter but the team never backed down. The Loan goal for the rebels goes to Maggie Klunder assisted By Ella Tiley.

Saturdays game would start off with a game against Scarborough Sharks and once again we were realizing that size was not in out favour again but speed certainly was.  The Team came to play with being down 1 goal in the first period it didn’t take long for the girls to rebound.  It was tied up in the first and then the game changed in the second with the girls scoring 3 goals and they kept going and got another 3 in the third to have the score end in a 7-1 victory.  Goals were scored by Tara Meikle with 2 Maizy Hutchinson with 1,  Maggie Klunder with a pair, Summer Roney with a single and Jamie Gilchrest also with a single.  Assists were awarded to Meghan prentice, Ella Tiley, Kaitlyn Nickason, Alex Nicholls, Tara Meikle, Aubrey Urbshott, Emma MacDonnell and Maizy Hutchinson.

Game 4 of the round robin was Saturday against Oakville and the team knew that they needed a win to secure a spot in the gold medal game and they did just that.  We had a win of 2-0 over the Hornets and it was a well played game.  Tara Meikle was the first to score in the second period and then to give us a bit of security Kaitlyn Nickason skated the puck in and fired it on the net to score unassisted.  Laura Naves earned the shut-out. With 5 points and a plus minus of +6 gave the girls the second-place spot and a rematch with Sarnia.

The Gold Medal game was a battle till the end!  Sarnia was able to get 2 goals in the first period past our net minder but we were relentless and still pushed to try to even the score.  The Rebels were not able to capture the gold but were successful in winning the Silver and are very proud of the accomplishment!

Overall the team ends the 2017-18 season with a record of 31-7-10

These girls are truly a team on and off the ice!  The bench staff, parent’s, family and friends are proud of the competitors that you have become and the class you have on and off the ice with winning and losing.  You are an example of true sportsmanship!!
