It was Game Two of the WOAA Elite Finals. Both of these Rebel teams know each other very well. They know each other's strengths, their weaknesses, and what time they will be available to play the video game Fortnite with each other!!
The hockey action was fast paced right from the start. The last time that these two teams played each other, the goalies were spectacular and today was NO different. DJ Gamble (LL1) and Jason Rudolph-MacLeod (LL2) made amazing saves with their gloves, their sticks, their pads, and any other part of their body that could be used to stop a puck. The crowd went wild as these goalies took this game to a whole new level.
LL1 scored the first goal of the game, one minute into Period One. Dalan Frook delivered this beauty, assisted via a long pass by Pearce Lacey. This proved to be the only goal in the first period of play.
LL2 evened the score at 12:38 in Period Two. Jakob Moran launched a missile to the back of the net, unassisted. Jack Diaz answered back for LL1 at 9:12 on a superb set-up by Adam Gorman. Jakob Moran tied things back up at 3:46 with a second missile that found its way into the mesh, unassisted. 2 - 2 at the end of period two.
LL2 took the lead at 14:06 in Period Three when Wesley Houston scored, assisted by William Hoare and Dillon Fry. Dalan Frook tied things up at 3 - 3 with a speedy goal at 11:05, his second goal of the game, assisted by Aaron Sadler. Try as they might, neither team could score another goal in regulation time. This game was headed for Over-Time.
These two fine Rebel teams battled back and forth shift after shift after shift in the Over-Time period. Great opportunities were set up, defensive plays were made, pucks were overturned, only to be turned over again. The hockey was excellent!! With just 2:37 left in the Over-Time Period, Jakob Moran capped off a fantastic game, with a third missile to the back of LL1's net. A well deserved hat trick for Jakob Moran and the win for LL2.
