Atom Girls Start Playdowns; On the Bumpy Road to Provincials!
The Desboro Lion's Club Atom Girls C team played a fast paced game against the number one placed Markdale Shooting Stars. It was the first game of a five game series where they will play down against the following teams for a chance to go to Provincials in Toronto: Bruce Peninsula, South Huron, Saugeen Shores, Grey Highlands (Markdale) and Walkerton C.  The two top teams will move on to the Provincial OWHA tournament in April.

Markdale started the scoring off early in the first period.  The Rebels regained their composure and fought back, out shooting the Markdale Girls throughout the game.  The girls headed into the second period still down 1-0.  They were able to hold them for most of the period, Grace Vokes making many good saves.  With only four minutes left Abby Vokes fired the puck at the net and Brittany Rodger tipped it in.  Abby and Georgia Rutter got the assists.  It was now tied 1-1!  Despite the Rebels hard work Markdale finally out scored them winning the game 4-1.  Brooke Farrow got the MVP pink helmet from her team mates.

Thanks for the great effort and exciting game girls! Good luck next Wednesday in your second game against Bruce Peninsula. Come out to the Desboro Arena to cheer us on!
