Desboro Lion's Club Atom Rebels tied in OWHA Playdowns
The Atom C Girls have won two of their playdown games and lost two. On the weekend they defeated South Bruce 2-0. Then on Sunday they fell to Saugeen Shores 7-1.
The Rebel Atom Girls played Mildmay(South Bruce) on Saturday at 12:00. It was a close game with the first and third period remaining scoreless. In the second period Abigail Vokes was able to fire one past the Mildmay goalie unassisted. Three minutes later she got her second goal of the game assisted by Summer Roney. The Rebels won 2-0. Grace Vokes got the shut out.
On Sunday the Rebels faced a tough opponent, division leader, Saugeen Shores. Abigail Vokes took off down the ice after the first puck drop and scored after only 15 seconds into the game. Sadly, that was the last goal for the Rebels. It was still a close game at the end of the first period as the Rebels held them to a 2-1 game to that point. In the second period Saugeen Shores opened up the scoring, and the penalties! They ended up with four penalties throughout the game to our one. The final score was a tough 7-1 for Saugeen Shores. That was a hard loss but the girls are determined to come back ready to go on Wednesday night when they face Walkerton in their final playdown game. Come out to cheer us on at 7:00 pm in Desboro!
