Desboro Lion's Club Atom Girls C Fight hard in the Pink on the Rink Tournament
The Rebel Atom Girls came up short in their weekend play despite a spirited effort in the Pink on the Rink Tournament. The tournament is a cancer fundraiser put on by the South Huron association. To show their support the Rebel girls wore one pink sock and one Rebel blue and red sock.
The first game of the day was at 8:00 am in Hensall against Sarnia. The early start proved to be tough for the girls and they lost that game 4-0. The next game was in Lucan at 1:50 against Petrolia. The Rebels had a super game. Grace Vokes played well in net only allowing one goal. Sister's Abigail Vokes and Cecily Mallette scored the goals in the game. It was Mallette's first goal of the season! Vokes' was unassisted and Mallette's was assisted by Kloey Jex and Grace Scott.
This put the Rebels in 5th place out of a pool of 9 teams. They would face 4th place Parkhill on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. The girls filled the day with many activities and arrived at the Exeter arena ready to win and advance to the finals. Sadly, despite a great effort, they were not able to score. They lost 3-0 to the North Middlesex team.
They had a fun weekend together and are looking forward to facing some of the same teams in the Saugeen Shores Silver Stick next month. With a different outcome! Great job girls and thanks for a wonderful weekend.
