Midget Rep Advance to Finals
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels played their final game of WOAA round robin and needed at least a tie versus the Huron-Bruce Blizzard to guarantee the Rebels a place in the finals.

Though Rebels start the period fairly strong, once the Blizzard got into the Rebels end of the ice, they repeatedly failed to get the puck out and eventually it led to a squeaker by the post to give the Blizzard a lead 1 - 0.
After several failed powerplays, the Rebels finally put together a decent powerplay with a number of chances and Colby McComb attempted a shot which was redirected by Carson Torrie and the puck was finally banged home by Alex DeJong to even the score at 1.
The goal gave the team a boost and it was quickly followed by Austin McComb taking it all the way down the ice and firing it in the Blizzard net.  With the 2 - 1 lead, the Rebels  seemed to gain more life and get into the game.  For the first time in the season, everyone's feet were moving the whole time they were on the ice.  Usually, one or two or even 3 are moving and the rest are not.  This game saw everyone moving all the time. For the most part, this meant that when the usual mistakes happened, another Rebel was already on the move to cover.
Some bad penalties to start period 2 made the fans nervous, but the new and improved Rebels, with everyone in the game every shift, handled the penalty kill without incident.  Finally, with players from both teams in the box but with Rebels on the powerplay Josh Currie squeaks one under the Blizzard goalie --  3 - 1 in favour of the Rebels.
A few major lapses in defensive play found Rebels goalie Lawson Cumming alert and ready.  He had to be quick on his feet to keep the puck out but he showed he was up to the task.
Early in the third, Clayton Krueger passed the puck up to Jake Moran.  Moran was left all on his own as the entire line headed for a needed change.  He had no problem carrying it in alone and beating the goalie to increase the Rebels lead to 4 - 1.
Rebels did not manage to score another goal during the remainder of the game but they did continue to play like a team with everyone moving all the time -- quick changes, hard skating, good body contact.  Let's hope this continues when the Rebels move to the finals.  With the win, they are at the top of Pool A and no one can catch them.  Pool B may still be up in the air but it looks like BCH will be their opponent.
Stay tuned to find out when and where you can come to cheer on this Rebels squad.
Let's go Rebels!!!
