Sooo Close...
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels took on the West Grey Warriors.  A win for the Rebels guaranteed them a trip to the finals and a win for the Warriors would put them ahead of the Rebels with one game remaining.

The 1st period started with most of the play in the Warriors end of the ice.  With just under 12 minutes left in the first, Jake Moran and Austin McComb were involved in a scramble in front.  When the puck popped out in front, Carson Torrie grabbed it in a 'spinneramma' and fired it by the goalie and in.
The celebration was short-lived as the Warriors responded with a goal of their own 8 seconds later.  The Rebels got a powerplay and they had some early chances but soon they fell apart and couldn't even get over the Warrior blue line.  Back at 5 on 5 play Alex DeJong passed to Moran who took it end to end and buried it to give the Rebels the lead once again.
Screening the goalie and trying to get the tip in front finally pays off when a shot by Jordan Beirnes was redirected by Josh Currie and finally banged  home by DeJong to close the first period 3 to 1 in the Rebels favour.
Play continued end to end early in the second, but the Warriors were the ones to score and close the gap to 3 - 2.
Rebels had a number of powerplay opportunities to get the insurance goal but they were unable to capitalize on any of the chances and as the game continued the Rebels powerplay disintegrated to near the depths it was at early in the season.  Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming made a number of great saves to keep the Rebels in the lead but a 2 on 1 near the mid-point of the 3rd led to a Warrior goal and a tie game.
Both teams had a number of excellent chances but neither managed to score during regulation.  This led to sudden death overtime.  Once again, though there were excellent chances at both ends neither team scored and the game ended 3 - 3.
This means that in order to secure top spot in their pool Rebels need to at least tie in their March 6 game versus Huron-Bruce Blizzard.  8:30 pm in Markdale -- come out and cheer them on.
Let's go Rebels!!!
