McComb Scores 2 but Rebels Come Up Short
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels took to the ice versus the Blyth Brussels Crusaders for their final game of the regular season.  For many of the Rebels it was the final regular season game of their minor hockey careers and it did not turn out the way they hoped.

The Rebels were down several players and, after a long holiday break filled with too much food and celebration, they came out slow.  Finally, mid-way through the first, Jake Moran got the puck to Austin McComb and, after some excellent moves by McComb, the Rebels took the lead 1 - 0.
The Rebels didn't allow the Crusaders too many opportunities, but, unfortunately, the ones they did allow forced Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming to come up big.  Cumming showed he was up for the challenge and the first period ended with the Rebels still up by one.
The second saw the Rebels applying a bit more pressure but not enough quality shots.  At 10:38 Mitch Stevens and Carson Torrie assisted McComb on goal number 2 as the Crusader goalie got most of his excellent shot but the puck still manager to trickle in.  2 - 0 Rebels.
In the latter half of the second and during period 3, the Rebels began to take some penalties and with the smaller bench and holiday excess, the team begin to tire.   Mid-way through the third, the Crusaders finally capitalized when they scored only 5 seconds into their power play.
Rebels threw everything they had into getting an insurance goal.  A number of amazing passes to the front of the Blyth Brussels net saw great saves by the Crusader goalie or a shot off the post or a near miss on a wide open net.  A bad call on an excellent defensive play late in the third saw the Rebels once again with a player in the penalty box.  The Rebels fought hard and Cumming stood tall, but before the penalty expired, the Crusaders found a man all alone on the edge of the crease and tied the game.  Then, with just over a minute left, the Crusaders had the puck again at the corner of the crease where they banged and banged and banged at it until they finally hammered it through crack and just over the line.
Now, Rebels wait to see their playoff schedule.  Stay tuned...
Go Rebels Go!!!
