Rebels Extend Winning Streak
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels clashed with Wingham in a game which saw Golem score 2 and the scorekeeper near exhaustion from trying to keep up with the penalties, but allowed the Rebels to extend the streak to 3.

Rebels opened the scoring 7 seconds in when Jake Moran pursued the puck into the Wingham corner from the opening face off and fired it out front where Wyatt Golem was waiting to roof a backhander over the unsuspecting goalie to give the Rebels the lead at 14:53 of the first.
The period continued with the Rebels applying most of the pressure until Rebels took a penalty which Wingham capitalized on after only 4 seconds on the powerplay.  This kicked off an avalanche of penalties but despite being up 5 on 4 and 5 on 3 for much of the second half of the first and most of the second, the powerplay lines couldn't get it done and sometimes didn't even manage a shot.  Luckily, while Rebels were on penalty kill, Austin King was forechecking hard and Wingham misfired it to Kinger and into the net to give the Rebels the lead once again.
Rebels failed to capitalize on a couple more powerplay opportunities early in the third but finally after almost half the period, in the Ironmen end of the ice, Josh Currie got it back to Mitch Stevens who buried it to extend the lead to 2, the celebration was loud but short-lived when the Ironmen came straight down and got it back to cut the lead to 3 - 2.
Cumming made numerous saves to keep the Rebels in the lead and finally with just over 5 minutes left in the game, Golem carried a pass, from Clayton Kreuger, up and into the Wingham end.  With a burst of speed he leaned on the Wingham defender as he cut to the front of the net and confused the goalie set for the snapper, with a gentle slide under him and into the net for the insurance goal.
Neither team was able to capitalize on their remaining chances but the physical game as well as the penalties continued to the final buzzer and beyond.  When the teams finally made it to the dressing rooms, the Rebels got to celebrate taking a three game winning streak into the new year as the game ended 4 - 2 in their favour.
Rebels wish their families, friends, fans, staff and teammates a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year or the non-denominational happy holiday season if you prefer.
See you next year.
Let's go Rebels!!!
