Power"less" Play
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels specialty teams woes continue as, in back to back games, the Rebels gave up the game winning goal while on the powerplay.

In the first game versus the Shallow Lake Lakers, the Rebels played hard, fast shifts and treated the fans to some amazing hockey.   The Rebels were going hard and beating the Lakers to the puck on a regular basis.  Goalie, Lawson Cumming, stood tall and stonewalled the Lakers when the Rebels made some errors and the Rebels stood up and were willing to take the physical punishment to win the battles on the boards.  Unfortunately, a powerplay opportunity for the Rebels late in the third led to an almost immediate breakaway and goal for the Lakers which turned out to be the game winner.
Sunday's game versus the South Bruce Blades saw the Rebels starting a little slow and lackadaisical.  The play picked up as the first progressed but Rebels had some problems staying out of the penalty box.  In the middle of the second, South Bruce scored a powerplay goal to take the lead 1 - 0.
In the late second with some injuries needing to be checked, the shortened bench saw some switching lineups.  This really brought some life to the Rebels and created some excellent scoring chances as the Rebels hammered the Blades goalie.  Near the mid-point of the third, Calvin Stewart battled for the puck deep in the Blades end.  Hunter Schultz came out of the corner and roofed it to even the game at one all.
Then, late in the third, Rebels got the chance to pull ahead when they were given a powerplay opportunity.  Once again, Rebels, could not handle the puck effectively on the powerplay and kept giving it away, which eventually led to a breakaway and goal for the Blades.  This proved to be the winning goal as the Rebels lost 2 - 1.
The positive takeaways from these games were: at even strength the Rebels can hold their own with even the strongest teams and that the different combinations put together in the second generated a lot of strong play both ways which shows that the Rebels have strong chemistry across lines and can plug any holes left by absence or injury.
Rebels are back in action with back to back games against the West Grey Warriors - Wednesday, December 11 @ 8:30 pm in Normanby arena and Thursday, December 12 @ 9 pm.
Let's Go Rebels!!!
