Goalie Lawson Cumming Scores!!!
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels defeated the Huron-Bruce Blizzards when Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming scored the insurance goal with only 11 seconds remaining in the game.

The Rebels came out hard in the penalty filled game.  Initially, the Rebels were able to keep their composure while the other team ended up in the penalty box.  Rebels controlled the play well, with good patience, good pressure and good teamwork.  Eventually, Wyatt Golem dug it out and Mitch Stevens blasted it home to give the Rebels the 1 - 0 lead.
Unfortunately, the calm start for the Rebels was over when less than 30 seconds after the powerplay goal, the Rebels gave the Blizzards a powerplay opportunity of their own.  The penalty kill was practically text book with almost the whole time spent in either neutral or Blizzards territory.  Once they successfully killed off the penalty, Rebels maintained control and had several scoring opportunities and eventually Josh Currie banged one in, from Jordan Beirnes on the point, to give the Rebels a two goal lead.
Rebels then took a turn back in the box.  Specialty teams did not fair so well this time.  Despite starting off strong on the penalty kill Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming was forced to make a number of quick saves until the Blizzards left around the crease finally snuck one just inside the post to bring the Blizzards within 1.
Rebels finally regained control when several minutes later, the Blizzards again ended up in the box and the Rebel powerplay took over.  Despite being unable to score, the control continued for the Rebels and back on even ground, from the offensive zone face off, Currie made an excellent play to get it back to defenseman Clayton Kreuger who got the shot away and on the door step Golem cleans up the trash by slamming it home.  Three to one for the Rebels.
The Blizzards seemed to deflate and all the play was in their end and left Cumming with little to do.
Regrettably, the Rebels ended the first on the penalty kill once again and this broke the spell as the Blizzards came on hard and Cumming came up big.  The second began and the Rebels were still down a man.  Though the Rebels killed off the remaining penalty time, it really ramped up the hard grinding physical game.
The Rebels once again confirmed how much better it is to skip the retaliation on the ice (and ending up in the penalty box) and instead retaliate on the score board when the Rebels Hunter Schultz did it all on his own to score another powerplay goal for the Rebels.  Only seconds later, Austin McComb turned multiple Huron-Bruce players inside out, stick-handling his way down the ice, and when he was right in the goalie's face, he slide it to Golem on the doorstep who slammed it home.  This left the score 5 - 1 in favour of the Rebels.
Rebels seemed to ease back at this point while Blizzards kept hitting hard and pushing forward.  They managed to score a goal out of nowhere to bring the score to 5 - 2.  Though much of the play was still in the Blizzard zone, the break outs became more frequent and a bad play at centre led the Blizzards to break in and score to bring the score to 5 - 3.
As the end of the second neared, Rebels found themselves playing 4 on 3 and eventually 5 on 3.  Cumming was forced to come up big repeatedly after seeing little action to that point.  The third started with the Rebels down 4 on 3.  The game continued with lots of physical play and more penalties on both sides.
Once again, Rebels penalty kill broke down and Blizzards were within one.  Not having learned their lesson, Rebels continued to end up in the penalty box and Blizzards pushed hard to tie the game now that they had clawed their way back to within 1 goal.
The Blizzards pulled their goalie and pushed hard.  With only 11 seconds remaining and the threat of tie looking like reality, Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming flipped the puck up and over everyone.  The shot headed down the ice and dead centre in the net -- CUMMING SCORES to provide the insurance the Rebels needed to go on and win 6 - 4.
WAY TO GO!!!
Rebels take to the ice again on Thursday 9 pm in Markdale.  Their powerplay is coming together and their penalty kill still needs work but when it is on it is golden.  They could go all the way...  Come out and see...
Let's Go Rebels!
