Four Point Night for MORAN in Playoff Opener!

Game 1 of the WOAA Elite Division Playoffs was an exciting, action packed 40 minutes … and then there was the O.T.

It was an even match between the ‘Air Tech Mechanical’ Bantam LL2 boys and the visiting Ripley Wolves, on Monday night in Tara.
With action at both ends of the ice, Jason Rudolph-MacLeod and his defence were kept busy. Our Rebels offence did their part in rushing the net and back checking the Wolves during their attacks at our end.
Jake Moran finally broke free and opened the scoring for the Rebels at 2:47, assisted by James Pinkston and Dillon Fry.
Ripley tied it up early in the 2nd, but Jake answered back with an unassisted goal at 5:15. The Rebels kept the pressure on and Tic-Tac-Toe … Christian Routenburg-Evans to Wes Houston, found Jake for the shot, and the hat-trick was complete at 1:50 on a power-play. The boys went into the flood with a 3 – 1 lead.

The Wolves wasted no time closing the gap with a deflection into our net at 13:51 in the 3rd.
In an unexpected turn of events with the Rebels on a 5 on 3 advantage … a Wolf chipped the puck by our defence and went on a breakaway to tie the game at 7:06. Despite many scoring chances on both goalies, neither team was successful in breaking the tie before the end of the 3rd. "Yay Jason"

After a water break and a strange request for some  <Boston - More Than A Feeling> … it was on to O.T.

The boys won the draw and charged into Ripley’s end. Jake drew the Wolves attention over to the boards, and then managed to centre a pass out to Wesley ‘Snipes’ Houston for the one-timer … and <Heeeeey! Hey Baby! (Huuu-Haaa)> the puck went top shelf with just 24 seconds off the clock!!!
FINAL SCORE:  REBELS 4 - WOLVES 3

Game 2 is in Markdale on Sunday at 3:30pm against our REBELS LL1 boys.  Should be a good one!
