1-1 Tie for Midget Cs
The Jennifer Tedford Remax Midget C Rebels skated to a 1-1 draw with the Owen Sound Ice Hawks in a spirited, penalty-riddled game at home on Friday night.
The Ice Hawks got on the board first at 6:23 in the second period. Goalie Hannah Mustard saved the initial shot off of a Hawks' breakaway, but the Rebels were unable to clear the puck and it was tapped in at the side of the net by Hannah DesRoches.
Two minutes later, the Rebels would answer back when Grace Kuhl stripped her opponents of the puck at centre ice, muscled her way into the Hawks zone, and fired a wrist shot past the Owen Sound goalie.
Despite numerous scoring chances from both teams, that was the extent of the scoring in this game.
Aly Airdrie had a fantastic game for the Rebels, eventually taking a turn at every position as her teammates went down with injuries.
