All Good Streaks Must Come to an End...
The Jennifer Tedford Remax Midget C Rebels
played two strong games this week. They came in second on both nights,
but battled hard and are heading in the right direction as they gear up for
playdowns.
Tuesday night the girls travelled to Lucknow to take on the first place team from the first half of the season. The girls got off to just the start they were looking for, going up 2-0 early on goals from Sam DeJong and Skylar Golem, assists to Grace Kivell and Kyla Thalen.
Unfortunately, that's when Lucknow's Katie Murray decided to throw her team on her back. 8 seconds after Golem's goal, Murray scored her first of three goals of her own in a three minute span to give Lucknow the lead.
Neither team allowed a goal in the second, but Lucknow would add another goal in the third, going up 4-2. A minute later, Golem netted her second of the game, assisted by Grace Kuhl. It was not enough, however, and the Rebels ultimately fell 5-3.
Friday night in Ayton, the Rebels met the West Grey Warriors. Every girl worked extremely hard and the coaches were very pleased with their performance. Unfortunately, they just couldn't capitalize on their scoring chances and ended up losing the game 2-0.
The Rebels have the week off so that they can come out on the winning end of their exams, but will be back in action at the Saugeen Shores Silver Stick Tournament next weekend. Good luck, girls!
