Mixed Results on the Weekend for the Midget Cs
The Jennifer Tedford Remax Midget Cs scored three goals in each of their games on the weekend, but with very different results.  The good news is, the one that really mattered ended in a win!

The Midget Cs took on the formidable Saugeen Shores Storm in league action on Friday night.  The girls went down 2-0 early in the first, but battled hard for the remainder of the period and got one back thanks to Skylar Golem and the passing of Kyla Thalen and Aly Airdrie.  Things were looking up for the Rebels going into the second.

Just thirty seconds into the period, however, Storm goalie Marley Scott went down with an injury.  The visiting team was forced with the decision to either dress someone else and put them in net or play with 6 skaters.  They chose the latter.  One would think that the Rebels would have been able to score at will under the circumstances, but Saugeen Shores dug deep and really elevated their level of play.  The Rebels were barely able to get any offensive zone time, while the Storm managed to score three unanswered goals.  Kudos to the visitors for their determined effort.

The Rebels would get two back in the third with Sammy DeJong and Aly Airdrie each netting goals on an assist from Renee Farrow, but the Storm would add one more of their own.  Final Score: 3-7.  Thanks to APs Morgan Moran and Reese Wilkins for helping us out even though they must have been completely exhausted after their big win over South Bruce just moments before.

Sunday the Midgets travelled to Teeswater to play their own OWHA playdown versus South Bruce.  No APs allowed for this one, but our tiny team which had been dwindled down to just 8 skaters on this night was determined to make a push for provincials.  The coaches were very impressed with how hard the girls worked and even more impressed with the stellar play of goalie Hannah Mustard who held them in the game.

The Rebels managed to score 1 goal in each period, with Madison Vokes starting the scoring and Skylar Golem adding a pair.  Golem and Vokes also picked up assists, as did Brittany Batterman and Renee Farrow.  The Blades were only able to slip one by Hannah.  Final Score: 3-1.  Congratulations girls!  Way to leave it all out on the ice.

The girls will play Lucknow Friday night at home in league action and will travel to Kincardine Saturday night for a pivotal playdown.  Go get ‘em, ladies!
