Hard Fought Loss for the Midget Cs
The TCDMHA Jennifer Tedford Remax Midget C Rebels fell 4-2
to the West Grey Warriors in league action on Sunday.
The Rebels battled hard, generating numerous scoring chances. Unfortunately, they also gave up some odd man rushes that resulted in two goals in the first period for West Grey. Early in the second, the Warriors would get on the board again, when despite goaltender Hannah Mustard being perfectly positioned, the puck somehow squeezed between her skate and the post.
Nearing the end of the second period, with a 3-0 score looming large on the scoreboard, the Rebels found themselves hemmed in their own end. That was until Sammy DeJong chipped the puck up the boards, and carried it coast to coast, roofing it into the Warriors net.
The Rebels would add another goal at 4:47 in the third when Grace Kuhl passed the puck back to the point to Brittany Batterman who rifled a shot toward the net. Skylar Golem was there with the redirect. Score 3-2.
With 1:23 left in the third and two Warriors in the box, the Rebels, desperately seeking the tying goal, pulled their goalie. Unfortunately, they lost control of the puck at the offensive blue line and the Warriors were able to capitalize with an empty-netter.
Great effort, girls!
