Rebels End on a High Note
The Township of Chatsworth “Edward McNabb Roofing” Bantam LL Rebels came out hard against the Teeswater Otters. The Otters snatched the victory in overtime the last time these teams met and the Rebels were not going to let it happen again.
Teeswater opened the scoring midway in the first, but Will Kavanagh answered with a breakaway goal to the top shelf. Before the end of the period, the Rebels took the lead when Dawson McNabb fired a bullet from the blue line. The Otters showed that they were up for the battle by evening the score in the second, but within seconds, Kyle Fry and Kavanagh capitalized on a two on one opportunity. Kavanagh to Fry, Fry to Kavanagh, who's shot hit the goalie, and Fry buried the rebound.
The second period saw penalties on both sides play a role. Teeswater closed the scoring in the second with the tying goal on a power play, but ended up heading into the dressing room facing the prospect of being a man short for 6 minutes. Both teams came out energized in the third period, but perfect cross ice pass from Spencer Hannah gave Kavanagh a clear path to the Teeswater net, where he tucked the puck into the top corner. The game remained a fierce battle, but Ethan Fennell stayed strong between the pipes, and every one of the Rebels kept their game together, worked hard against the big Teeswater team, killed off penalties, and held off the extra man advantage when the Otter's pulled their goalie. It as a well deserved win and showed off how gutsy and strong this Rebel team is.
