The Township of Chatsworth “Edward McNabb Roofing” Bantam LL Rebels faced off against the Teeswater Otters Saturday in Chatsworth. Both teams were short on players but long on heart.
It was a fast paced game -- lots of end to end and fast moving, with some hard checking thrown in. The Rebels started a little slow as they were surprised by this team who seemed a lot smaller and slower with their full squad, when we faced them in the regular season, than they did on the ice for this game. Rebel goalie Ethan Fennell played a spectacular game and made many excellent saves. Once the Rebels got over their surprise, the matched the Otters pace and play and it was an excellent game which went into the 3rd period tied at 0. With just over 11 minutes left in the 3rd, the Otters snuck one into the Rebels net. Not to be outdone, less than 30 seconds later, Spencer Hanna found the mesh at the Otter end of the ice and tied the game. With many chances at both ends of the ice, the game went into over time. Though both teams were tired and each forced to play with less than 2 lines, they hit the ice hard for the overtime period. Unfortunately, when the scramble in front of the net was over and the bodies cleared, the Otters took the overtime win. Good effort Rebels!
