Playing for all the marbles
The Township of Chatsworth “Edward McNabb Roofing” Bantam LL Rebels travelled to Mildmay for their final game of the season vs. the Mildmay Monarchs.  The last time these 2 teams met, it ended in a 5 all tie and a win this time around will almost certainly clinch top spot in the WOAA Bantam LL division for either team.

The Rebels drew first blood at the midway point of the first period on a goal by Kyle Fry assisted by Evan Longland and Will Kavanagh.  The Monarchs evened the score less than 2 minutes later.  It was a back and forth game, though the Rebels struggled with penalties in the first period.  The Monarchs came out hard at the start of period 2 and snapped one past the Rebel goal tender.  The Monarchs then struggled with penalties of their own in the 2nd period.  The Rebels evened the score on a beautiful goal by Longland assisted by Kelly McCarthy.  The Rebels had lots of chances but couldn’t put one by the Monarch goal tender and the second period ended 2 all.  The Rebels again had issues staying out of the box in the 3rd and Mildmay took advantage pulling ahead 3-2.  Rebels put the pressure on and had many chances while being held in at their own end by some great saves by Ethan Fennell.  The last 2 minutes of play was all Rebels with the Monarchs unable to relieve the pressure, it seemed certain that the tying goal would come.  With 12 seconds left, a long flip down the ice into the empty Rebel net was the insurance goal that ended the game 4-2 in favour of the Monarchs.  Good effort Rebels and excellent regular season.  15 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie – which included a 10 game league winning streak.  Good luck in the playoffs.
