The Township of Chatsworth “Edward McNabb Roofing” Bantam LL Rebels defeated the Walkerton Capitals on Saturday with 6 points going to team captain Evan Longland.
The Rebels started slow with a goal by Evan Longland to open the scoring at the midway point of the first period – assists to Sam Hicks and Cole McCracken. A minute and a half later, Longland would score his second of the game again assisted by McCracken.
The second period saw lots of end to end play, but no additional goals for either team. In the third, things really opened up for the Rebels with the first goal of the period being scored Will Kavanagh and assisted by Dawson McNabb. McCracken then scored a goal of his own assisted by Longland. Then less than a minute later, Longland scored the hat trick assisted by Jeremy Skippen. Then just before the midpoint of the period, Kavanagh scored an unassisted goal to make the score 6-0 in favour of the hometown Rebels.
The frustrated Capitals had difficulty staying out of the penalty box for the much of the 3rd period but the Rebels kept their cool. Unfortunately a scramble by the Rebels saw the shut out slip away with the Capital goal being credited to Connor Johnson. The Rebels weren’t done and Longland scored again for the hat trick plus one – assisted by Denver Johnson and Kavanagh. Kavanagh then put one home to complete a hat trick of his own – assisted by Johnson and by Rebel Goalie Ethan Fennell! Skippen put one past the Capital goalie in the final minute of play assisted by Longland and Kyle Fry to end the game 9-1 in favour of the Rebels and to complete the cycle so every Rebel player got at least one point during the game including Fennell.
That makes it 10 regular season wins in a row. Way to go Rebels!!!
