A Snowy Drive and Last Minute Arrivals
The Township of Chatsworth “Edward McNabb Roofing” Bantam LL Rebels had a bit of a scramble as they prepared to start their game in Kincardine last night, with the weather prolonging the drive for a number of the Rebels. Luckily, they were ready to face off against the Kincardine Kinucks #2 by the time the game ahead of them finished – half an hour behind schedule.
The Rebels came out a bit flat and it looked like their 3 game winning streak would not become 4 as the many attempts they did have in the first period resulted in shots against the end boards rather than the opponents net. The Kinucks drew first blood on a goal by Riley Cherrett. The Rebels finally managed to find the net as Will Kavanagh scored on the break away to even the score. The Kinucks weren’t finished and they pulled ahead on a goal by Owen Fohkens with only about a minute left in the period. However, the Rebels managed to find the net again as Will Kavanagh evened the score at 2 with only 12 seconds left in the first – assists to Evan Longland and Dawson McNabb. The second period opened beautifully with an amazing passing play between Spencer Hanna and Jeremy Skippen. Hanna – Skippen – Hanna - Scores! The Rebels aim improved somewhat between the first and second as they managed to ring the post many times during the second, but there were no further goals for either team. The Rebels really struggled on the penalty kill in the second and third and many times couldn’t get the puck out of their own end. There were many mad scrambles and Rebel goalie Ethan Fennell came up big when they needed him most. Rebels hung on to take the win 3-2. Rebels hit the ice again Saturday @ 12:30 in Chatsworth.
