The Township of Chatsworth “Edward McNabb Roofing” Bantam LL Rebels faced off against local rivals the Arran Elderslie Ice Dogs Friday night in Chesley.
The Rebels came out strong in the first period, but fantastic goal tending from both ends of the ice kept the game scoreless until midway through the second period. A beautifully placed puck by Evan Longland on a breakaway put the Rebels up by one. With under 2 minutes left in the second, Evan found the net again, with the assist going to Will Kavanagh. The Ice Dogs fought hard in the second and third period, breaking up passes and plays to keep the Rebels tied down. Their hard work paid off with a goal from Caleb Edwards off an unlucky rebound. The game looked like it might get away on the Rebels, but late penalties gave the Rebels a 5 on 3 advantage. Spencer Hannah made a nice hustle for a rebound, to pop the puck past the goal tender. Kyle Fry got the assist on the play. In the last 17 seconds of the game, Dawson McNabb sealed the deal with a long shot to the open net, catching first one post, then the next and then in! The Rebels came out with the 4:1 win.
