OMHA Playoffs Start with a Nail-Biter
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels played the first game of their series against the Central Perth Predators.  If the first game is any indication, this will be close series with both teams desperately fighting to avoid elimination from OMHA play.

Both teams came out hard, and there were chances and turn overs and end to end play, as the teams felt each other out in their first meeting this season. Finally, at 6:04 of the first, Austin McComb assisted Dalan Frook in scoring the first goal of the game, but the lead was short-lived as the Predators evened the score just over 30 seconds later.  The play continued end to end with with neither team able to gain the upper hand.
With less than 2 minutes left in the period, the Predators fired a shot at the Rebels net. Goalie Lawson Cumming made the initial save, but the rebound flew high into the air.  Amid the scramble and traffic, the puck game down behind the goalie and unfortunately snuck over the goal line to give the Predators the lead going into period 2.
The Rebels managed to tie the game at 2 in the second when Hunter Schultz scored early in a power-play  with the assist of Mitch Stevens.
Then, at 5:56 of the second, also on the powerplay, Brandon Stewart passed out front to Wyatt Golem who one-timed it by the Predator goalie to give the Rebels a 3 - 2 lead. Both penalty boxes saw tonnes of action during the second and the Predators scored a powerplay goal of their own before the end of the second period. This saw the teams head to the dressing rooms tied at three.
Both squads hit the ice for the third pumped up and hungry to come away with the first win of the series.  Rebels gained the upper hand when Stewart did it all on his own and scored the go ahead goal giving the Rebels a 4 - 3 lead.  With 6:35 left in the third, the Predators came back and evened the score once more.  Both teams scrambled to put the puck in the net and regain the lead.  Excellent chances and great saves at both end of the ice saw the dying seconds of the third period tick away and the tie remain.
The 10 minute, sudden death, over-time period started with pressure moving from end to end.  At one point the Predators finally put one into the Rebel net and the whole team flooded onto the ice, but the game did not end.  The Rebels net had been dislodged prior to the puck crossing the goal line.  One official had seen the dislodged net and called no goal immediately while another had not seen the dislodged net and signaled goal.  After a brief discussion, the Predators were sent back to their bench, there was no goal and the game continued.
Both goalies were called upon to make excellent saves and despite chances, neither team could score.  Finally, with a little over 2 minutes remaining in the overtime, Stewart got his third point of the game as he assisted Jake Moran who dug the puck out of the scramble in front and got it over the goal line - just prior to the Predator net being pushed out of position.  The goal was good and the Rebels got the win and take the lead in the series with 2 points to the Predators 1.  This series is the first team to six.  Rebels head to Milverton on Friday for an 8:30 start to game 2 of the series and then return to Markdale for game 3 on Sunday.
Go Rebels Go!!!
