Happy Holidays!!!
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels were scheduled to face off against the West Grey Warriors but the it wasn't the Rebels that took to the ice, but the Chiefs showed up to battle the Warriors.

West Grey came out hard and scored just over a minute into the game.  The Chiefs fought back and had some scoring chances of their own.  Several times, the Warriors broke away and at others the Chiefs couldn't clear the zone and this forced Chiefs goalie Lawson Cummings to make a number of great saves.
Just past the 5 minutes mark, the Warriors snuck another one into the Chiefs goal and took a 2 0 lead in the game.  This seemed to suck a lot of the energy out of the building as the TCD fans braced for a beating. Finally, with 1:24 left in the first, Wyatt Golem passed to Calvin Stewart, who passed to Hunter Schultz who one timed it by the Warrior net-minder to cut the Warrior lead in half.
The Rebels Chiefs continued to press to tie the game, but the Warriors weren't done either, and Cummings continued to be called upon to make spectacular saves.  At 11:54 of the second the Chiefs scored to tie the game when Brandon Stewart did it all on his own to find the back of the Warrior goal.  Both teams had excellent chances to score and both teams successfully killed off penalties but the game remained tied until at 3:01 of the second, the Warriors managed to sneak one over the Chiefs goal line on a play that Chiefs players, staff and fans all loudly protested was running the goalie.  However, after a referee conference, the goal stood and the Warriors once again led in the game.
Chiefs could not manage to score to tie the game no matter what they did.  They had several powerplay attempts which were unsuccessful and were very lucky to only be facing a one goal deficit as there were a number of close calls at their own net. Finally, in the final minutes of the third, unable to score, and while on the powerplay, the Chiefs pulled their goalie and faced the Warriors 6 skaters to 4.  The Chiefs struggled and the Warriors had several scoring chances on the empty net.  Once, as the puck fired from center ice sailed toward the empty Chief goal you could feel the building hold its breath.  The West Grey fans groaned in disappointment and the Chiefs and their fans gasped in relief as the puck grazed the Chiefs' goalpost on the outside.
Despite a number of chances in the final minute, Chiefs seemed destined to come up short with missed shots, fanned shots and close calls all going the other way, there seemed no way they could score.  Finally, as the final seconds ticked away, there was a scramble in front of the Warrior goal and a 10 body pile up.  Chief fans and players cheered as the buzzer sounded.  As players, fans staff and referees all shared their opinions of 'was the goal in time' and 'was the goalie interfered with' and 'who put the puck in and how'.  No two people saw it the same way the the referee and linesmen game to a consensus.  And, when the dust settled, the score sheet read 3 - 3 tie with the final goal being scored by the Stewart brothers (not the Hanson brothers) - Brandon to Calvin - with 0.01 seconds on the clock.
Great game Chiefs!!! And a great way to go into the holiday season.  Rebels will take to the ice for one final game in 2018 as the Shallow Lake Lakers come to the Centre Grey Recreation Complex in Markdale on Sunday December 30th at 2 pm.  Come on out and cheer on your Rebels for the final time in 2018.
Go Rebels Go!!!

Happy Holidays to All!  Wishing joy, love and happiness to all the Rebel staff, players and fans.  Please share the happiness of the season and remember to plan ahead to arrive alive.
