Peewee C Girls Making Memories at the Mount Forest Tournament!
The Xtreme Heating TCDMHA Peewee C girls had a great weekend full of fun and team bonding at the Mount Forest tournament. Unfortunately, they came away without a win but it was evident how much the players that are new to hockey have improved. The girls were graceful despite their losses and continued to focus on developing their skills and friendships. They tried their best even though they were up against C teams that had made cuts to their teams and played many more games than us this year already.

Their first game was on Friday at 12:00 against Grand River. Jacelyn Beirnes was stellar in net again and made countless saves. Grand River scored half way into the first but the Rebels tied it up with a goal by Lyndsay Cumming assisted by Jayden Thalen.

The girls held onto the tie until the end of the 2nd when Grand River scored again. They were able to get two more past us in the third for a 4-1 final. Cecily Mallette got the player of the game.

The next game was at 5:00 against local rivals Saugeen Shores. The Rebels held them until late in the first and then after countless shots SS finally got one by Jac. Saugeen followed this with four more unanswered goals for a 5-0 win. Jaclyn Beirnes got the Player of the Game.

The girls headed home to bed since they had to be back in Harriston at 6:00 am to face Walkerton.  They had a tough morning losing 12-0. The coaches decided to award two players of the game after the next game!

The girls grabbed breakfast and met up at Mount Forest to cheer on our Bantam Rebels. In order to get to know each other better manager, Heather Vokes organized some games and icebreakers for the girls. You can see their "Great Canadian Bobsled" teams below with coach Ron Mole participating!

The fourth game was against the girls from Keene at 1:00. The girls dug in and Jaclyn Beirnes celebrated her first period shut out.  Keene scored in the 2nd and then in the 3rd making it 2-0.  Although the Rebels had some great shots they were unable to score and the final was 2-0. Jayden Thalen and Lyndsay Cumming earned the Player of the Game awards this time.

The team headed to The Spot for a delicious team meal before their 6:30 game in Harriston. They knew they would be in tough since they were up against Mt. Forest who were in first place in their Lower Lakes C division. The Chatsworth girls lost 7-0 but they never gave up. They continued to back check and skate the entire game. Jaclyn Beirnes made MANY big saves. Due to her hard work Emily Schofield, who is new to hockey and skating this year earned the Player of the Game.

The bench staff and the parents are very proud of this team for their perseverance and attitude. We have a lot to work on but as long as we have fun and keep trying we'll continue to have a great year.
