The Desboro Tire Novice C Girls faced off against Walkerton home and away Saturday and Sunday respectively, with our girls getting more aggressive each period.
What use to be a wide margin NOT in our favour has narrowed this year and this weekend. Yesterday we had a loan goal from our hardest working player of the game, Rory Jex. She battled past 3 opponents to earn her goal. This 4-1 loss was the closest our Rebels have ever been... until today!
Today something changed! Not the outcome (we lost) but we were in it the entire game and almost tied it in the third on two great chances which would made it 3-3. Instead, Walkerton scored with 12 seconds remaining to have the game end 4-2. Goal tender Jessica Clark made every effort to help her team, throwing her body at pucks and poke checking any chance she got. This earned her the pink hard hat prize representing today's hardest working player.
Claire Torrie and Bree Wilkins were work horses too getting multiple scoring chances resulting in a goal a piece.
Very successful weekend despite the loses!
