The Desboro Tire Novice C Girls set to the ice determined for a win. They had one previous win recorded against this Walkerton team and it was not earned on the ice and rather a result of poor weather. So it was time to put their game faces on and give it all they had.
Our team does not yet have a permanent goalie. Many girls have stepped up to help their team by playing net. This show was stolen by goal tender Jessica Clark who was keen to have an extra turn between the pipes. She faced over 30 shots in net and by shear grit and focus she stood on her head to stop all that came her way. Her teammates were so determined to help earn her the shut out they were diving to slap pucks away and throwing themselves to block shots. The score remained tied at zero late in the third when Rory Jex broke loose and her fifty shots per day paid off when she raised the puck over the pads of our opponent's goalie and hit the back of the net!
Wahooo! 1-0 Rebels. With over two minutes left all of our girls worked as hard as they could to keep the puck out of our net. It was a long two minutes before we could say "REBELS WIN, REBELS WIN!!!!"
