The Desboro Tire Novice C Girls played on the big ice at the Owen Sound Recreation Center today. With many girls battling viruses they brought their determination and in a team effort managed to earn the win.
After a scoreless first period it was OS that caught a lucky bounce resulting in a goal on a breakaway. The Rebels kept battling getting many shots on net. It wasn't until the third period that Jessica Clark fired one from the blue line that beat the goalie just inside the post. Katie Murray earned the assist on this goal.
With the score tied the Rebels stuck to their game and Hennessy Koeslag kept the puck in, worked it down low to Jessa Rutter who made a nifty pass to Kailey Greig who then capitalized on a scramble to make the score 2-1 Rebels! It was a tense final few minutes with OS pulling their goalie and doing their best to apply pressure. Thanks to an awesome save by is goal tender Jalaynah Moore and brute strength by our squad in clearing the puck we held on for the 2-1 win.
These two teams face off again on Tuesday night and this time we hope all of our Rebels will be healthy!!!
