Slow Start in Round 1 . . .
The snow and wind finally took a break and it was game on, in Wiarton Thursday night.  The 'Harold Sutherland Construction' Peewee REP boys headed up the Bruce Peninsula to take on the Predators in game 1 of the 6 point OMHA series.

It didn't take long for the Predators to get on the board, burying the puck in our net in the 2nd shift of the game.
The Rebels got into the game and the action went end to end for the remainder of the period.
Jake Moran opened the 2nd period with a tying goal assisted by Curtis Wade and Danny Rourke, and
Curtis added one of his own, a few minutes later assisted by Jake and Alex DeJong.  It was looking up until we started to fill the penalty box midway through the period.
The Predators capitalized on the man advantage not once, but twice and ended the period up 3 - 2.
The Predators came out strong in the 3rd with a quick goal to double their lead, but Jake answered back a minute later with a goal from the blue line, assisted by Curtis to make it 4 - 3.
With a minute left on the clock, we pulled our goalie and sent out the extra man.  Unfortunately, we lost control and the puck ended up in our empty net in the confusion at 0:23.
The boys kept the pressure on and Jake got loose for a breakaway goal to complete his hat-trick with 4.9 seconds left ... but it wasn't enough tonight, leaving the final score 5 - 4.

Both Jason Rudolph-MacLeod and the Predators goalie were worked hard tonight, with an even number of shots on their net ... 37 - 36.

Thankfully game 2 of the series isn't until next Wednesday in Keady, as we had several boys hit with the flu bug after the game that night.
Rest up boys, and we'll see you on the ice next week ... hopefully back to full strength!
