REBELS Double the WOLVES

After a 4 - 2 loss in their first W.O.A.A. Playoff match-up with the Ripley Wolves, the 'Harold Sutherland Construction' Peewee Rep REBELS were ready for this battle on home ice tonight in Keady.  They knew that the Wolves had gone undefeated thus far in the round-robin and were determined to end their streak.

The REBELS had one of their best games of the season tonight, in what could possibly have been the final game played in Keady for 11 members of our team (before moving onto the Chatsworth arena next year).

Just a day after his 13th Birthday ... Jason Rudolph-MacLeod was on his game tonight, making PLENTY of amazing saves and doing his part to guarantee the win.  Our defence were all fabulous and our forwards assisted in back-checking the aggressive Wolves' offense.

For those fans that couldn't make it tonight, here's how it went down...

The Wolves did manage to sneak the first goal in at 6:18, but Pearce Lacey tied it up at 4:48.  Austin King got control of the puck in the corner and passed it back to Jack Kivell at the blue line for a hard shot at the net.  Pearce was there to pick up the rebound and fire it into the net.

The Wolves started off the 2nd period with their 2nd unassisted goal just 7 seconds after the puck dropped.
Midway through the period Ethan Harrison stick-handled the puck down and sent it towards the net.  Calvin Stewart and Austin King battled the Wolves defence and Austin got the puck over the goal line at 7:14.

Jake Moran sent a cross ice pass to Alex DeJong, who brought it through traffic and took the shot on net.  Curtis Wade moved right in for the rebound at 4:06 ... to take the lead.

The REBELS found themselves short handed a few times in the 3rd period, but it didn't stop them from adding to their lead.  Ethan fired the puck out of our end to Pearce, who found Jake open at centre ice.  Jake moved past the Wolves defence and fired it high in the net at 12:54.
They managed to successfully kill off the penalty minutes, and even played the final 1:24 with a 6 on 4.  There were at least 3 VERY close calls, but the puck just would NOT go in that empty net!

Final score: 4 - 2

The boys travel to Wiarton Thursday night and Mount Forest on Sunday to finish off the last 2 round-robin games.

GOOD LUCK and GO REBELS GO!!!
