First Playdown Win!
The Atom Rebel girls came out on top of Walkerton Tuesday night in Walkerton. It was a close game that went back and forth several times ending in a 4-2 victory for Chatsworth.
The first period saw action in both ends and was tied 0-0 until Lyndsay Cumming found the back of the net assisted by Jolie McKnight near the end of the first.
Walkerton answered back quickly in the second tying it up 1-1. Less than a minute later Jolie McKnight picked up a pass from Cecily Mallette and drove to the net from her own blue line to make it 2-1 for the Rebels. Both teams continued to make it exciting. With only 16 seconds remaining in the second Jolie McKnight buried her second of the game assisted by Olivia Houston and Cecily Mallette. The fans blood pressure kept rising as Walkerton scored again with only one second on the clock in the second period to make it 3-2.
Goalie, Allison Hoy made some great saves to keep the Rebels in the game. Finally, half way through the third, hard fought period, Grace Madill earned her first goal as a Rebel to give us some insurance. Her goal was again assisted by Cecily Mallette. The girls worked hard keeping their lead for the rest of the game despite Walkerton pulling their goalie.
Great work girls and good luck tomorrow night in your second Provincial Playdown game against Markdale Shooting Stars.
