Overtime Win At Home
Back on home ice, in front of a packed house in Desboro, the Desboro Tire Novice LL#1 team WINS IN OVERTIME defeating the Howick Hornets 2-1! It was a tight battle from the first drop of the puck to the last whistle of the game. Great defensive plays by both teams and fantastic goaltending by Rebels goalie Jacob Fluney, not to mention the strong offence and sniper shots from the forwards proved again that teamwork is the key to winning hockey games.
Everyone on the team has a job, and when you're on the ice skating hard every shift, playing your position and working with your teammates good things happen! The Rebels were behind by 1 with a late goal scored at the end of the first, but continued to battle hard. The puck was theirs and they wanted it! Matthew LaFond tied the game halfway through the third with the assist going to Finlay Johnston. And then just a little over 2 minutes into overtime Carter Frook took the puck in the neutral zone, skated towards the Hornets net and took a hard shot from the slot, beating the goalie glove side!! REBELS WIN! REBELS WIN! Great job boys and well deserved, you all worked hard.
