Rebels Battled the Storm all Weekend

The weather was beautiful all weekend, but the Desboro Tire Novice LL#1 team had to contend with 2 strong Storm teams on Saturday and Sunday!

The Rebels were on the road this weekend taking on Saugeen Shores #5 on Saturday and Saugeen Shores #3 on Sunday in WOAA playoff action. Saturday saw the Rebels take the win 4-3 in Port Elgin. Goal scorers were Jackson Gordon with a pair and Neil Gilchrist and Felix Moore adding singles. Carter Frook, Austin Rasmussen and Gilchrist were all on the game sheet for assists. Jacob Fluney saw plenty of action in the Rebels net and made some key saves to keep the Rebels ahead!

Sunday, the Rebels travelled to Southampton but were unable to come away with the "W" this time. The score was tied at 1 after the first period with Matthew LaFond scoring for the visiting Rebels. The Storm went up by 1 after 2 periods of play. The Rebels then found themselves down by 2 goals in the 3rd. They couldn't capitalize on their chances and found themselves crowding the puck. It was Carter Frook who found the back of the Storm net next! The Rebels continued to press hard but 2 more Storm goals was too much to overcome. The final score 5-2 for the home team. The boys will be looking for redemption on Wednesday in Desboro, when these two teams will square off again for the second game of round robin play! Time to calm "the Storm" boys! Let's go Rebels!!
