The Desboro Tire Novice LL#1 squad began their playoff run with a big 6-0 win over the visiting Wingham Ironmen.
The Rebels dominated the play in the first period, with most of the action in the offensive end, but could not find the back of the net. Still tied at zero after the second period, the Rebels gathered at the bench to talk strategy. And whatever the coaches said to them worked!!! Johnathon Farmer got the Rebels on the board first, assisted by Carter Frook. Neil Gilchrist followed up with an end to end rush and put in his own rebound not stopping until the puck was in the back of the net! Farmer would add another goal as he fires the puck hard to the net from a pass by Austin Rasmussen. Carter Frook roofed one under the crossbar for one of his own as he was sent in alone with a pass from Farmer. Gilchrist adds his second of the night with the helper going to Jackson Gordon. And to finish off the two and half minute scoring spree was Matthew LaFond as he made the first move making the goalie drop to his knees before flipping the puck up and over him into the net. Hunter McComb was awarded the assist on the Rebels last goal. Speed and stamina throughout the whole game is the key to VICTORY!
