Momentum Climaxed in the Last 2 Minutes of the Game
The mighty Desboro Tire Novice LL#1 squad starts off the new year with a bang! They travelled to Southampton to face the Saugeen Shores Storm #5 team and came away with a 3-1 victory.
The game was intense with both teams fighting hard for possession of the puck and position in front of the net. Austin Rasmussen found himself in the penalty box after throwing his weight around along the boards! The Rebels killed off the penalty and continued to work hard. Neil Gilchrist scored the Rebels first goal unassisted with only 58 seconds left in the first. The lead wouldn't last for long though as Saugeen Shores was able to net one early in the second. Spirited battles continued between both teams and the Rebels momentum continued to increase as the minutes on the scoreboard ticked away. These players "NEVER GIVE UP" attitude kicked in and within the last 2 minutes of the game scored twice on the home team! Hunter McComb netted the go-ahead goal at 1:16 and Matthew LaFond sealed the deal with 32.5 seconds remaining in the game. Great Effort Boys!
