PeeWee C Girls Bring Home Another Medal
The Saugeen Shores Girls International Silver Stick Tournament ended with a SILVER MEDAL for the CHATSWORTH ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Branch 464 PeeWee C Girls.
They battled hard all weekend ... finished 1st in their division with 3 wins ... went on to win the semi-finals, but ended up 1 goal short in the Championship game ... and that was with only 9 skaters for the final 3 games.

These determined young ladies left it all on the ice, giving 100% every game.
Game 1 on Friday was a 4 - 1 win over the Wallaceburg Lakers.
Reese Wilkins tipped in 2 goals, 1 in the 1st assisted by Tristin Brown and 1 in the 2nd on a shot from Jade Gilchrist.
The Lakers scored on a breakaway in the 3rd, but Jessica Davidson fired in a rebound a minute later on a shot from Morgan Moran at the point.
Tristin scored with 2:28 left in the 3rd assisted by Emily Meuser, and then the REBELS held the Lakers off for the final 2 minutes (short-handed) for the win.

Game 2 on Friday was a 4 - 0 SHUT-OUT win over their league rivals South Bruce.
First the good news ...Tristin scored all 4 goals, assists going to Jessica, Emily, Lindsay Elliot, and Jamie Gilchrist.
Now the bad news ... a collision in a race for the puck with 2 minutes left in the game resulted in Tristin getting a 3 game suspension, which meant she was out for the remainder of the tournament.

Game 3 on Saturday was an amazing 1 - 0 SHUT-OUT win over the Bluewater Hawks (that we had met in the Championship game in Exeter at Pink on the Rink).
With our 9 skaters to their 15 we had our work cut out for us. Jessica moved up to the roll of centre, and Ashlynn Stephenson with the help of her "3-D" Morgan, Lindsay and Emma did a fabulous job defending our end for the Shut-out.  Reese scored the lone goal of the game early in the 2nd assisted by Abby Vokes.
The win clinched top spot in the division and it was on to the semis.

Game 4 - Semi Finals on Saturday night was against our other league rivals ... the Walkerton Capitals.
Our mighty 9 took control of the big ice at the Plex and won the game 3 - 0.
Jade got the rebound from Lindsay's shot from the point early in the 2nd to take the lead.
Reese somehow flipped the puck up from the blue line and it dropped right in behind the Capitals' goalie (also assisted by Lindsay),and with just 2 minutes left Abby managed to get a pass out to Reese from behind the net, who found Jamie ready for the rebound to score the final REBELS goal.

Game 5 - CHAMPIONSHIP on Sunday afternoon was against the Lucan Irish (who we defeated in Stratford for GOLD, and put out in Exeter in the Semis).
On this day ... the luck was for the Irish, who took the game 1 - 0.
The big ice at the Plex proved to be too big for our 9 today.
Our powerful defence were in control in our end and kept the Irish away from our net, but at 6:14 in the 2nd Lucan broke out of their end and went down on a breakaway and scored.  Despite all efforts by the REBELS offense, that Irish goalie wasn't losing this one.

So, with 5 games played - 4 games won - 12 goals scored and 2 scored against - the REBELS come home the PROUD SILVER STICK ... SILVER MEDALISTS!!!
