UNDEFEATED and headed to PROVINCIALS!!!!
OWHA PROVINCIALS HERE WE COME!!
The "Desboro Lion's Club" Atom Rep Rebel Girls defeated Walkerton tonight 1-0 in their final playdown game. With a perfect record of 8 wins the girls earned FIRST place out of seven teams that were trying for a spot at Provincials. They will play in the OWHA Provinical Tournament on April 9-12th in Toronto. They finished their playdown round with 12 points, 34 goals for and only 2 against!
Tonight they face a tough and agressive Walkerton team. The last time Walkerton was in Desboro they tied us and they were determined to improve their record. Emma MacDonnell was able to shoot one past the Walkerton goalie in the first period, assisted by Claire Vokes. The rest of the game was back and forth with Grace Vokes making many great saves. She earned the shut out.
On Sunday the Rebels also faced a tough match up against Kincardine. In the first period Emma MacDonnell fired one past the goalie, unassisted. Kincardine answered back not long after to tie the game 1-1. In the second period Tara Meikle scored assisted by Natalie Madill to give the Rebels some insurance. Finally, Brooke Farrow went for a skate and scored unassisted to make the game 3-1.
The Rebels will play this weekend in their year end WOAA tournament in Belmore. They will start their day at 12:00pm vs. Bruce Peninsula. Wish us luck!
