GOLD at International SILVER STICK!!
The "Chatsworth Lion's Club" Atom Rep Girls won GOLD at the Saugeen Shores Caitlyn Cobean Memorial Silver Stick Tournament on Sunday.  The girls fought hard all weekend against tough competition.  They left it all on the ice and deserved their GOLD victory! Goalie, Grace Vokes not only won Gold but also had a SHUT OUT SILVER STICK weekend!

The Rebel ladies had a tough division facing South Huron, Kincardine and Lucan.  They played South Huron on Friday in Tiverton. The first two periods remained scoreless as both teams went end to end and put pressure on the goalies.  The girls knew this may be a warm up for the final (which it turned out to be) so they played agressively with TCDMHA taking two penalties and South Huron taking three.  Finally, late in the third Tara Meikle fired a puck at the net on a pass from Summer Roney and Natalie Madill tipped it in. That was all we needed to defeat South Huron 1-0 and move ahead in the standings.

In our second match up we faced our year long rivals, Kincardine.  Kincardine was raring to go and wanted redemption for their 2-0 loss last Saturday.  Again, Grace Vokes faced lots of action in her end as both teams shot on the goalies to no avail.  This time the Rebels only waited until the second period to score! Claire Vokes snuck one past the Kincardine goalie on a shot by Kloey Jex and a pass from Abby Watson. The Atoms won 1-0 and were still undefeated.

On Saturday they faced their last test to make it through to the semi-finals when they played Lucan at 2:15 in Paisley. The teams were fairly evenly matched through the first two periods and then Chatsworth's stamina helped them pull ahead in the third. Tara Meikle scored early in the third assisted by Brooke Farrow.  Shortly after Claire Vokes got her second of the tournament assisted by Cecily Mallette.  The Rebels won 2-0 and were headed to the semi-finals to play Kemptville!

At 7:15 Saturday night the girls pumped each other up and sped out onto the ice determined to make it to Sunday's final.  Kemptville didn't let them off easily but both lines showed them what they are made of. Emma MacDonnell scored in the second assisted by Kloey Jex and Claire Vokes. Then two minutes later Tara Meikle scored assisted by Summer Roney and Natalie Madill for a 2-0 final.  We were off to the championship game!!

After several moving speeches by the coaching staff the girls headed out on the ice Sunday morning for a rematch against South Huron.  The stands were full of our many supportive fans and the girls were ready to prove that they deserved a Silver Stick Gold.  The Rebels came out strong and played a fast paced first period. Tara Meikle ended the crowd's anxiety when she scored on a pass from Natalie Madill with just over two minutes left in the first period.  Now they had to hold them.  The defence played a smart game and Grace Vokes turned away everything that came her way.  In the second Claire Vokes put in another goal assisted by Kloey Jex and Emma MacDonnell.  Despite several tense moments in the third when the Rebels were killing off penalties the girls dominated and won the game 2-0!!

The Rebels had won Silver Stick Gold and Grace Vokes had earned five straight shut outs!!
