Atom Rebel Girls bring home SILVER!!
The Desboro Lion's Club Atom C Rebel Girls came home with the Silver Medal from the South Huron Pink on the Rink tournament on the weekend. After going undefeated throughout the entire weekend they faced a tough Mitchell Meteors team in the final today.
On Friday they played their first game against East Lambton, defeating them 7-0. Kloey Jex got a hat trick and the player of the game. Cecily Mallette got the pink helmet for being the hardest working player.
On Saturday they played Lucan, a much more experienced team. Emma MacDonnell scored in the first period assisted by Kloey Jex and Claire Vokes. The girls fought hard to stop Lucan from scoring but were not able get another one past their goalie for a 1-0 final for TCDMHA. Cecily Mallette got the player of the game and Grace Vokes got the pink helmet.
With these wins the girls finished in first place and were scheduled to play the sixth team in a semi-final game on Saturday night. They faced East Lambton again and defeated them 11-0.

All the girls hard work placed them in first and sealed the deal that they would go straight to the championship game. They played the Mitchell Meteors in the final. The Rebels came out strong and led for the first two periods after Kloey Jex scored in the first period, assisted by Emma MacDonnell. Despite the Rebels out shooting them 24 to 11 the Mitchell girls snuck two past Grace Vokes late in the third. The girls gave it their all and even pulled Grace in the last couple of minutes but it was not to be. The loss gave them the Silver Medal. Kloey Jex won the pink helmet.
The Atoms should be very proud of their win and coming second out of seven teams. It was a tough loss for them as it was their first loss of the season in 21 games!! They supported each other through it all and it will be a great learning experience as they prepare for the rest of their season and the Saugeen Shores Silver Stick next month.
