Loss ends Streak and Silver Stick hopes
The Air Tech Mechanical Bantam Rebels lost a tight 2-1 game to the Flesherton Golden Hawks. The defeat ended the Rebels hopes of advancing to the Silver Stick semis and also ended their 10 game unbeaten streak.
Flesherton opened the scoring in period 1 but it wasn't long before Nate tied the game when he put Austin's rebound past the sprawling Golden Hawk goaltender. The tight checking game continued into the 3rd when Flesherton converted on a power play opportunity to take the lead. The boys made a determined effort to get the tying goal but were unable to find the back of the net. Chances were scare for both teams as shots were 15-13 in favor of Flesherton.
The Bantams finished their weekend with a win, loss and tie and came away with the knowledge that they could compete with the top teams. The boys have played some good hockey during the streak and are eager to get another one started at the most important time of the year, playoffs. Next action is Sunday in Blyth.
