Rebel Midgets crowned WOAA champions
The TCDMHA Kuhl Machine shop midget LL rebels were crowned WOAA Midget Elite champions on Thursday night.  The game was held at the Bayshore arena in Owen Sound due to ice issues in Chatsworth.  The team promoted and the game and decided to not charge admission at the door with the hopes of a large crowd.  The fans did not disappoint with the largest crowd of the season in attendance, many who had never see the team play this year.

The game started out with both teams a little on the cautious side.  The larger ice made for a faster game with teams teams going end to end.  Shelby Kingston started in goal for the Rebels and made several big saves to keep the Rebels in front.  Brock Wardell opened the scoring with 4 minutes left in the second with Tyler Williamson getting the assist.  10 seconds later, Braydon Longland who has been snake bit all year got in on the action with a goal.  The assist went to Braedon Weppler.  The Rebels held a 2-0 lead going into the intermission.

The third period seen a goalie change for the Rebels to get all the players involved in the big game.  Both teams poured it on with the Rebels fighting to get the important next goal and Tiverton fighting to get on the scoreboard.  The Rebels found themselves in penalty trouble later in the third and on a 5 on 3 powerplay, Tiverton scored to make it 2-1.  With the Rebels still shorthanded in the final minute of the game, Tiverton pressed and scored the tying goal on a scramble in front of the net.  This put the game into overtime.

During the overtime, both teams pressed  hard but as well played with caution.  Neither team wanted to be caught shorthanded.  The overtime produced no goals for either team.  Tiverton knew they had to beat the Rebels by 3 goals to claim the crown.  The game ended after the overtime with the Rebels declared the champions.

The Rebel Midgets would like to thank their sponsor, Kuhl Machine shop for its continued support of minor hockey, the executive of TCDMHA for their ongoing support, and to the fans from siblings and grandparents to neighbours and friends for all the rowdy and encouraging support they gave the team.  All this support did not go un-noticed by the entire team.
