Two Assists for Jackson Greig as Rebels Begin 2020 With Another Win!!
The Township of Chatsworth "Howell Transport" Bantam LL played the Shallow Lake Lakers on Wednesday, January 8th, 2020 at the Keady Arena. It was the Rebel's first game of 2020 after a lengthy Christmas Break from games. They did have a number of skill building practices. The Rebel's last game of 2019 resulted in a decisive victory against West Grey on December 21st.
Javier Koeslag was in net for the Rebels and Javier always puts on a good show for the fans. He was more than ready for this game.
The Rebels and the Lakers proved to be an even match right from the start. It was not until 2:12 in Period 1 that the Rebels were able to take the lead on a goal by Robert LaFond, assisted by Aiden Callahan-Cummins. The Rebels hung on to win this period.
The Rebels scored again in Period 2 at 9:02. Jake Oatt scored this goal, assisted by Jackson Greig. Shallow Lake answered back with two goals of their own at 7:39 and 5:16. Shallow Lake won this period. The game was all tied up.
Both teams stepped up their game for Period 3. Robert LaFond continued to win many faceoffs for the Rebels. Opportunities were created and defensive plays took these opportunities away. The fans had no idea how this game was going to end. Javier Koeslag made some amazing saves, including a glove save that impressed the fans of both teams. The Rebels eventually scored on a scramble around the Lakers' net with a meager 19 seconds left on the clock. The goal was scored by Emmett Jackson and was assisted by Jackson Greig, his second of the game, and by Brennan Snyder who had created many scoring opportunities this period. The Rebels won this period and the game.
