Jake Oatt Scores a Hat Trick!!
The Township of Chatsworth "Howell Transport" Bantam LL played the Bruce Peninsula Northstars Black on Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at the Tara Arena. Javier Koeslag was in net for the Rebels for this game. Both teams came out looking for a win. The Rebels got on the scoreboard in the first shift when Maverick Lacey made no mistake about it and fired a hard shot along the ice to the back of the net, assisted by Jackson Greig.
Jake Oatt followed this up at 9:10 by scoring a nice one, assisted by Brennan Snyder. With 42 seconds left in the period, Andersen McComb scored a beauty on a brilliant pass from Aiden Callahan-Cummins. 3 - 0 at the end of Period One.
Bruce Peninsula proved to be very resilient in Period Two, scoring at 13:58 and 11:03 to bring themselves within one goal of the Rebels. At 4:28, Jake Oatt struck again, finding the back of the net with a hard shot that snuck past the goalie. This goal was assisted by Jimmy Couch and Sheldon Rodger. Aiden Callahan-Cummins added a goal that hit a number of players on its way to the net, assisted by Jake Oatt. Bruce Peninsula did not give up and scored two more goals before this period ended. 5 - 4 at the end of Period Two.
At 7:27 in Period Three, Bruce Peninsula tied things up at 5 goals apiece. The Rebels had to buckle down if they wanted to secure the win. At 6:37 Jake Oatt scored again, his third goal of the game, assisted by Jeffrey Rodger. Bruce Peninsula pulled their goalie as the game was coming to a close, and the Rebels made several attempts to hit the empty net with the puck. Brennan Snyder got the job done with about 21 seconds remaining and this proved to be the final goal of the game.
