Don’t poke the bear!
For any teams wanting to go up against them, the TCDMHA
Power Workers’ Union Midget LL Rebels have some advice: Don’t get all up in
their grill! That only makes them dig deep
and work even harder. The Kincardine
Kinucks found that out when they came on strong against the Rebels in the first
period of Sunday’s playoff game in Markdale.
The Kinucks opened the scoring a minute into the first frame, but the Rebels weren’t fazed. They came back two minutes later to put up a point of their own with an unassisted goal by Chris Hardman. However, the Kinucks managed to put another one into the net before the period came to a close.
The Kinucks’ lead was short-lived. They had poked the Rebels’ inner bear, and they were about to feel the consequences of raising the hackles of the team that has a reputation for amping up their already awesome game when their backs are against the wall. Going into the second period, the entire Rebels squad unleashed an endless barrage of shots that left their opponents reeling. Two by Carson Torrie (assisted by Josh Currie), one by Josh Currie (assisted by Carson Torrie), and one by Charlie Scott (unassisted) resulted in four unanswered goals to give the Rebels the victory with a final score of 5-2.
The Rebels meet Kincardine again on Wednesday, but the bear is already out of the cage, and the Rebels have no intention of putting it back in! GO, REBELS, GO !!!
