Who let the dogs out?!?!?
The TCDMHA Power Workers’ Union Midget LL Rebels ripped into
the 2019 playoff frenzy with their trademark bulldog intensity, blanking the
Shallow Lake Lakers in the first game of the Maroon North Division playoffs
last Sunday with a score of 3-0.
The win was a true team effort. Every member of the squad – including those cheering from the sidelines – had their heart in the game. Perfect execution of defensive and offensive strategies – including stellar forechecking and relentless backchecking – and the tenacious drive to retain and regain puck possession resulted in numerous scoring chances, three of which found home. Chris Hardman opened the scoring in the second period with what would end up being the game winner, set up beautifully by linemate, Talmon Ash. Jake Hartman added two more solo markers in the third, putting the game out of reach.
At the other end of the ice, backstop Jason Rudolph-MacLeod completely shut down the offence, keeping out every shot fired at him and eliminating all hopes of a Lakers’ victory. Rumour has it that the Rebels’ goalie came close to owing the team a cartwheel when his clearing shot almost found the Lakers' empty net.
The Rebels head into their next game this coming Sunday, hosting the Kincardine Kinucks in Markdale.
GO, REBELS, GO !!!
