Order placed for season-opening Win
The TCDMHA Power Workers Union Midget LL Rebels ordered a “W” for their season opener against the South Bruce Blades in Mildmay on Monday night, and the order was delivered on time and in classic Rebels style.

The game was the full-package deal.  It started out with a scoreless first period, full of end-to-end action and stellar defensive play.  Both teams got on the board in the second, with the Rebels tying the score at one on a goal by Josh Currie, assisted by Tiki Stockwell.  Veteran netminder, Devin Early, was pulling out all the stops – including an “outside the crease” save that called to mind the unconventional style of Marc-Andre Fleury – until he was sidelined with 4:26 left in the second with what team officials are classifying as a “lower body injury.”  First-year Midget goalie, Jason Rudolph-MacLeod, stepped into the action and kept the score tied at 1 going into the third.

In the opening minutes of the final period of play, the Rebels pulled ahead when Jake Hartman buried one, helped out by linemates Josh Currie and Tiki Stockwell.  The opponents tied up the score just under five minutes later, and would have added another if it hadn’t been for the outfield fly-ball glove save goalie Jason MacLeod made to shut down the offence.  What the scoresheet doesn’t show is the brilliant contributions by the Rebels’ defence throughout the entire game, including outstanding boardwork in the defensive end, holding the blueline and unloading rockets from the point in the opponents’ end, and full-ice rushes that got the team really fired up.  Sealing up the season-opener package was the unassisted game-winner from blueliner, Hunter Courtney, who (according to confidential sources) ended a scoreless streak when his point shot found the five-hole with just minutes to go in the game.

Order received: Win for Midget LL 2018-19 season-opener
Order status:  Signed, sealed and delivered – Rebels style.

Great job, boys!
