Always the Groomsmen
For the second time this year the RF KING EXCAVATING Atom LL Rebels were finalists in a tournament. The team travelled to Mildmay on Saturday and continued with their late season charge.
Game 1 saw the Rebels hammer the Walkerton Capitals 7-0 in a game that saw Justin Nagel and Liam Cooke steal the show with steller goaltending. Rogan Vanstone and Braden King each fired a hat trick, while Kayden Kirk added a single.
In the 2nd game against the Guelph Gryphons the Rebels got a pair of late goals from King to seal the deal. Once again Nagel and Cooke combined for a shutout. The final game saw the team lose to a very strong Hanover team. The author of this article failed to get a snapshot of the gamesheets so the assists were unavailable at press time. The author can say however that the Rebels this weekend passed the puck around better than he has seen all year and wouldn't be surprised if each player didn't end up on the score sheet with an assist. It was an encouraging but disappointing result for the team that worked so hard to get to the finals. Coaching staff and parents were very proud of the boys this weekend and look forward to continuing the march through the Playoffs. Well done Rebels.
