Off to a Great Start
The Township of Chatsworth and District "Moggie Valley Timber Inc." Midget Rep Rebels began WOAA playoffs over the weekend with a 6 - 1 over the Walkerton Capitals.

The first round of WOAA play will consist of a home and away vs. both Listowel and Walkerton with the top team to move on to round 2.
The Rebels have struggled against Walkerton all season and were unable to come away with a win in either regular season match up.  Despite being down several players, the remaining Rebels were out to change the outcome and post a win in this first game.
Rebel Brandon Stewart drew first blood when he scored at 11:30 of the first period and the Rebels never looked back.  At 6:55 Corey Rasmussen scored and at the end of the first period the score remained 2 - 0 in favour of the Rebels.
At 9:56 of the second, Brandon Stewart scored his second of the game, assisted by Austin McComb, and the only goal of the second.  Both teams struggled with penalties during the second period and it ended with the score still 3 - 0 in favour of the Rebels.
Period number 3 saw the frustration and the physical contact grow in the Capitals.  Rebel goalie Lawson Cumming continued to add to the Capitals frustration as he made a number of excellent saves and this led the Capitals to struggle with penalties.  They tried to draw the Rebels into penalties as well, but the Rebels did a much better job of remaining cool headed in the third than they had in the second.  Because of this, Rasmussen scored goal number 2 and Calvin Stewart scored his first of the game, both on the powerplay, to give the Rebels a very comfortable 5 - 0 lead.
With just under 2 minutes left in the game, Rebel Tyler Calhoun scored to bring the total to six unanswered goals scored by the Rebels.  Capitals, however, did not give up.  They continued a very hard checking physical game and really wanted to take the shut out from Cumming in order to give them some momentum for the next time the Capitals and Rebels met.  Unfortunately, with 0.3 seconds remaining in the game, a scramble in the Rebel crease, which seemed to involve every player of the ice, allowed Walkerton to score to end the game 6 - 1 in favour of the Rebels.   Watch the calendar for the next WOAA playoff game for the Midget Rep Rebels and, if you get the opportunity, be sure to go out and support all your Rebel teams this playoff/playdown season.  Let's Go Rebels!!!
