Rebels Edged by Rams 3 - 2
The Township of Chatsworth and District "Moggie Valley Timber Inc." Midget Rep Rebels faced off against the Mount Forest Rams on Sunday and came up just short.
The Rebels weren't at their best in the first period and soon were down 2 0. The seemed to pull it together in the second and gained some life when, at the 11 minute mark, Rebel winger Hunter Schultz skated round the Ram goal and, taking advantage of the confusion in front of the net as his line mates and the Rams fought for position, continued around and placed a beauty over the shoulder of the Ram net minder.
Throughout the second, the Rebels continued to push to tie the game. Rams didn't hold back either and Rebel goalie, Lawson Cumming made a number of excellent saves to keep the game within one. Finally in the dying seconds of the period, Trenton Chegahno, with the help of Tyler Calhoun and Austin McComb, found the back of the Rams net and tied the game at 2 a piece.
The Rebels came out strong in the 3rd, but a momentary lapse by the Rebels mid way through the period allowed the Rams to break into the Rams end and have multiple shots at breaking the tie. Unfortunately, the Rams capitalized on the opportunity and took the lead.
The Rebels threw everything they could at the Rams in the last half of the period, but they were unable to slip one by the Ram goalie and the game finished 3 - 2 in favour of Mount Forest.
Rebels take to the ice again on Thursday night in Hanover 9 pm. Let's Go Rebels!
